Emotional Elopement in an Abbey Ruins
Shalimar contacted me with a great idea that she and her fiancé Adam should elope in Ireland while they were here for a friend’s wedding up the country. Because their lead in time was too short to do their legal wedding here, they had a relative of Adam’s do the legal ceremony at home in West Virginia.
I set them up at Cahernane House as the location to stay and we planned for the ceremony to be at one of my favourite locations, Muckross Abbey which is in partial ruins but very romantic.
On the morning of their ceremony, Shalimar sent Adam off to do some fishing while she got ready and he was very pragmatic about it all as in his mind they were married {legally} so the deed had been done – so to speak. Because of that he was very relaxed in the lead up but knew that Shalimar was going to shine on this, her wedding day.
Well, she looked gorgeous and elegant and all of that and as they were reading their vows and going through their ceremony the emotion of what they were promising each other and the love that they shared just poured out. It was simply beautiful the love these two have for each other.
Have a look at their day which was perfectly captured by Bartek Witek .
Killarney situated along the Wild Atlantic Way has some of the beautiful scenery in all of Ireland.
Often my couples aren’t sure if they want to do a blessing as their destination wedding in Ireland after having their legal ceremony at home thinking they want it all to happen on the same day. That is what Adam thought. I tell them {as I told him} that their wedding day is the day that is in their hearts not the day they signed the paper and often the emotion and power of words you exchange during the wedding ceremony surprises even the most level-headed people. Shalimar and Adam are testaments to that.
What a special couple.
Thanks for the help in their day go to Tricia from Munster Mobile Hair, Marilyn McSweeney for makeup, Blooms florist in Killarney for the bouquet, Cahernane House as above and Bartek for the beautiful photos. Thanks all!
